I can’t mention enough my love of exploration and telling stories-specifically though portraits. It’s so exciting going to new places and having no clue what you will find to photograph. I have clients ask me all the time what they should bring to shoots, how to prepare, what to tell the kids, etc. I honestly prefer real life moments and situations that are a bit less planned. The more you have to pose the farther away you get from those really special seconds-that I used to call accidents or luck.
One day, while talking to my Dad about photography, work and life he said something really important to me. “Robin, it can’t be luck everytime.” I thought a lot about that and I still can’t help but hold onto the idea of creating magic, having those “luck” moments, and enjoying time with family. The key to finding your luck moment is learning to forget that your photo is being taken-and let go….I try to help guide each client into that place. The luck spot 🙂
